Is there any downtime?

You will notice mild to moderate swelling and tenderness immediately after treatment that may last for about 72 hours. Mild swelling may persist for up to 12 weeks.

When will I see results?

Results become apparent around the 12 week mark following treatment. Best results are usually achieved through a series of 2 to 4 treatments, spaced 12 weeks apart.

How long will results last?

Results from Kybella are permanent! Following a healthy lifestyle will contribute to maintaining your results in peak condition.

Does it hurt?

We’ll be honest, kybella treatments are a little uncomfortable. You’ll experience some mild burning at the injection site for about five minutes after treatment. However, the treatment is tolerated well by most people and the results are so worth a few minutes of discomfort.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects can include pain at the injection site, swelling, bruising, and temporary nerve injury. We provide ice packs immediately after the procedure to help reduce swelling. We’ll also provide you with a list of pre treatment tips and precautions that will help reduce bruising and swelling.

Can I get Kybella if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

Kybella injections should not be used in pregnancy or when breastfeeding.

Pre-Treatment Tips

  • Schedule your treatment at least two weeks prior to events. Preferably 12 weeks to reach full effect.
  • Discontinuing use of aspirin, ibuprofen and other anti-inflammatories for at least 3 days, preferably a week, prior to your appointment will reduce the risk of redness and bruising. Please consult with your primary physician prior to discontinuing any medications.
  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplement and cigarettes 24-48 hours before and after your treatment. This will significantly reduce the risk of bruising and swelling.
  • If prone to bruising, starting Arnica supplements at least 2 days prior to injections may help reduce bruising.
  • Let the provider know if you have a history of cold sores. An antiviral may be prescribed.
  • Avoid microneedling, IPL photofacials and laser procedures to the target treatment area for 7 days prior to treatment.

Post Treatment Tips

  • Do NOT, touch, rub, massage, or manipulate the treatment area.
  • Apply ice to the treated area for 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off as much as possible within the first 24 hours.
  • Ice the treated area for 15 minutes, 3 or 4 times a day for 3 to 5 days following treatment.
  • Drink plenty of water for the next few days.
  • Sleep face up and slightly elevated for a few days to help reduce swelling.
  • Avoid rigorous exercise activities, excessive sun or heat exposure, and alcoholic beverages for 3 to 5 days following treatment.
  • We recommend Tylenol if you have any discomfort. Avoid Advil, ibuprofen, aspirin and other anti-inflammatories for 3 days to 1 week after treatment, these may increase bruising.
  • You may apply Arnica cream to the treatment area to help decrease the bruising and discomfort.
  • You may apply make-up (preferably pharmaceutical grade mineral makeup) as usual.
  • Please report to your provider immediately if you develop an asymmetric smile or facial muscle weakness, skin ulceration in the treatment area, difficulty swallowing, or if any existing symptom worsens.
