  • We’ll apply a clear gel to your skin and ask you to wear protective eyewear.
  • During the treatment, you’ll feel a warm, zapping sensation.

IPL Photofacial Uses

  • Reduce hyperpigmentation for evenly toned skin.
  • Treat age spots, brown spots and sun damage.
  • Reduce redness and rosacea, and rosy cheeks.
  • Brighten the skin and reduce dullness.
  • Enhance the skin’s clarity.

FAQ

What’s the difference between an IPL photofacial and laser skin resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing is the use of light energy to selectively remove a fraction of your skin’s surface, forcing your body to produce new skin tissue. It also penetrates in the deeper dermis layer of your skin to stimulate collagen production that tightens and plumps your skin as it heals. The end result is smoother, firmer, clearer skin for an overall more youthful appearance.

Does the IPL treat melasma?

We don’t recommend IPL or other light or laser treatments for melasma. However, melasma can be treated with chemical peels and microneedling.

Is there any downtime?

Your skin will look and feel like you have a sunburn – it will be slightly red and warm for a few hours. This can be covered up with makeup and you can return to your daily routine immediately.

When will I see results?

Pigment and brown spots will begin to darken a few days after treatment – it looks like coffee grounds. It will rise to the surface of your skin over the following few days, then naturally slough away leaving you with clear skin at around 10 days. For the best results we recommend a series of 4 to 6 followed by annual maintenance treatments.

How long will results last?

Results are permanent! However, we can’t stop the aging process so maintenance treatments are crucial to maintaining your results. You can also maintain your results and the health of your skin by avoiding sun exposure, wearing a sunscreen every day and using a vitamin c to suppress pigment.

Does it hurt?

Topical numbing cream is applied for treatments to keep you comfortable. Expect to feel a mild warmth and a zapping or popping sensation during treatment.

Are there any side effects?

The most common side effects include the mild sunburn look and feel and swelling. Hyper or hypopigmentation is rare but can occur.

Can I get an IPL treatment if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

IPL photofacials are not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
