FAQ

How does microblading work?

Microblading is a process that involves tiny, fine-point needles (instead of a tattoo gun) that make up a small disposable blade on a handheld, manual tool that is used to scratch and deposit pigment simultaneously under your skin.

What do you mean, semi-permanent?

If you’re concerned about ‘permanent’ makeup, don’t be! Unlike permanent tattooing, microblading fades (without color distortion) and eventually disappears. This happens for a few reasons (1) the hand tool creates thinner strokes that aren’t ingrained as deeply into the skin, (2) the pigment used is semi-permanent and less concentrated, which allows your body to metabolize it so it fades away.

Is there any downtime?

None, you’ll be able to return to your regular routine the right after treatment. You may experience mild redness, and some itching and flaking for the first week after the treatment.

When will I see results?

Immediately! You’ll return after four or six weeks for a touch up and to make sure you’re happy with the result – this touch up is included with your initial treatment.

How long will results last?

Microblading usually lasts 1-3 years depending on your skin type (oilier skin types tend to fade the fastest). However, for best results we recommend a touch up every 12 months.

Does it hurt?

Microblading is a little uncomfortable, but not painful. Expect a scratching sensation on the brows during treatment.

Can I get microblading if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

We recommend consulting with your doctor prior to receiving microblading if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Pre-Treatment Tips

  • Avoid blood thinners, aspirin, or fish oil for 30 days prior.
  • Avoid Retin-A (tretinoin), chemical peels, or AHA for 2 weeks prior.
  • No chemotherapy for 1 year prior.
  • No Botox injections for 2 weeks prior.

Post Treatment Tips

Day of Treatment

  • An hour after treatment, you may gently blot any weeping fluid from the eyebrows with a moistened cotton pad.
  • Do not touch, rub, pick or scratch the eyebrows.
  • Wipe with a moist cotton pad, then apply a thin layer of Stratacel with a cotton swab every hour until bedtime.
  • At bedtime, wash the eyebrows with warm water and Gentle Cleansing Lotion. Apply a thin layer of Stratacel after cleaning.

Days 2 to 10 Following Treatment

  • Do not touch, rub, pick or scratch the eyebrows.
  • Before showering, apply Aquaphor to the eyebrows and keep your face away from direct contact from the showerhead.
  • Apply a thin layer of Stratacel with a cotton swab 2 times a day.
  • At bedtime, wash the eyebrows with warm water and Gentle Cleansing Lotion. Apply a thin layer of Stratacel after cleaning.
  • Avoid sweating and strenuous exercise.
  • No swimming.
  • No hot sauna, bath or Jacuzzi.
  • No sun tanning or tanning bed.
  • No laser treatment or chemical peels.
  • No Retin-A (tretinoin) or AHA near the treated area for 30 days after.
  • No driving in open air vehicles like convertibles, motorcycles, boats, bicycles, etc.
  • No smoking.
  • Apply ice if needed for swelling.
